A female corrections officer was rushed to the emergency room with a possible concussion after an alleged attack by a mentally-handicapped male inmate Thursday at South Woods State Prison in New Jersey. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in a shower area at the facility, according to scanner reports. The names of the individuals involved or what provoked the alleged assault were not released by prison officials. The inmate was also taken to the emergency room, according to New Jersey Department of Corrections spokeswoman Dierdre Fedkenheuer. His condition was not disclosed. "When he's cleared, he will be sent to the stabilization unit at Northern State Prison," Fedkenheuer said. |
