A former Homestead, Fla., corrections officer is accused of coercing and inmate into to having sex with him and impregnating her. State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced the arrest Thursday of former Correctional Officer Ajmo Jolicoeur. Investigators said that Jolicoeur used his position as a midnight-shift officer in a female inmate dormitory to gain access to a specific inmate. According to the arrest report, Jolicoeur told woman that if she did not have sexual relations with him he would make up complaints against her that would lead to her close confinement. Investigators said that Jolicoeur had sex with the woman several times from June 2004 to August 2004. The inmate found out she was pregnant on Aug. 17, 2004. Jolicoeur resigned that same day. On March 8, the woman gave birth to a baby girl. A DNA test confirmed that Jolicoeur is the baby's father. Jolicoeur is charged with sexual battery by a corrections officer and sexual misconduct by a correctional officer. Both charges are felonies. |
