PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI - A Michigan prison inmate died two hours after being released from a hospital for a bee sting last week, officials say. Lisa M. Johnston, 37, was stung by a bee Wednesday, April 24 while in the prison yard at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility, said Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Chris Gautz. The Pittsfield Township facility is the only women’s prison in the state. Johnston, as first reported by the Detroit Free Press, had an allergic reaction and was hospitalized at St. Joseph Mercy Health System, Gautz said. Read More. |
