The killer of 13-year-old Kelsey Shannon started his 48-year sentence with the Colorado Department of Corrections on Tuesday. Alexander “Alex” Paul Pacheco, 19, of Broomfield, was transferred from the Broomfield County jail to the DOC’s Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center around 9 a.m., Broomfield Police Chief Tom Deland said. At that time Pacheco was assigned inmate number 149972. Pacheco on Monday pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He admitted to killing Kelsey, a Westlake Middle School student who was his onetime girlfriend, soon after she disappeared on Oct. 14, 2008. Read More. |
