| Rutherford workhouse wants to add mechatronics training for inmates |

Inmate Kevin Webb hopes others at the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center will learn the mechatronics training he obtained from his employer. "Just having a skill is the biggest thing you need," Webb said during an interview at the center, which incarcerates nonviolent offenders who are able to work and train. Webb has learned some mechatronics skills — a blend of mechanical engineering and electronics — by working at BVA Systems Tennessee in Murfreesboro. He works on noise control for air-conditioning systems when he's not at the center to serve a sentence reduced to two years for felony evasion of arrest. He'll be released without parole July 18.
