Authorities investigating death of Coffee County Jail inmate |

The death of a Coffee County Jail inmate is being investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation. Jail personnel on Tuesday found Jeffrey Todd Ivie, 45, of New Brockton, unresponsive. Officers immediately began CPR and nurses transported him to a nearby hospital, according to CCSO Chief Deputy Ronnie Whitworth. “He passed away at the hospital emergency room,” Whitworth said. “He just quit breathing, and several parties tried to perform CPR.
