ORDWAY – Family, friends and coworkers of the late Sgt. Mary Ricard are set to celebrate her life with the dedication of Colorado 207 as the Sgt. Mary Ricard Memorial Highway on June 14. Sgt. Ricard was 55 when she was stabbed to death at Arkansas Valley prison in Ordway on Sept. 24, 2012, where she was working for the Colorado Department of Corrections supervising inmates in the kitchen. Signs on both the north end and the south end of the highway were put up in May and will be formally dedicated at 9:30 a.m. next Friday, said Tim Ricard, Mary’s widower. Those who wish to attend will meet at Manzanola on Colorado 207 between U.S. 50 and the railroad tracks. The procession will drive north, turning right on Colorado 96 and right on Lane 13 before turning right into the Arkansas Valley prison parking lot. Read More. |
