FRENCH CAMP — A 70-year-old inmate was found dead in the San Joaquin County Jail’s medical housing unit Saturday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the report, jailers escorted medical staff into inmate Tony Alvarez Saenz’s cell to take routine vitals about 4:20 p.m. when they found Saenz unresponsive. Life-saving measures were performed on Saenz by jail staff, fire and paramedic personnel, according to the Sheriff’s Office, but the efforts proved unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
