Jail administrator charged in jail beating

Overton County (Tenn.) jail administrator Michael Gilpatrick has been arrested by the FBI on charges he conspired with others to have a jail inmate beaten and then tried to cover it up.
That's according to court documents and a Sheriffs Department investigator.
Investigator John McLeod confirmed that Gilpatrick was arrested Thursday in Livingston.
The arrest of Gilpatrick is the latest in the on-going federal investigation of Sheriffs Department employees.
Earlier this month, county jailer James Loftis pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring with other jail employees to arrange the beating of inmate Ricky Allen Beaty.
Beaty had been arrested after a domestic dispute with his teen-aged daughter and was placed in the county jail.
Loftis, who resigned his jail job in April, will be sentenced later this year and face up to ten years in prison.
