Alabama to get statements from prison-building companies |

Today is the deadline for companies interested in building prisons for Alabama to send in statements of qualifications. The Alabama Department of Corrections sent out a request for qualifications in June (see the RFQ at the end of this story) to find firms to build three men’s prisons that would house a total of about 10,000 inmates, about half the prison population. Some prisons would close. Gina Maiola, press secretary for Gov. Kay Ivey, said the names of the companies sending in statements of qualifications would be released on Monday.
