Early releases planned to reduce inmate population |

The Garland County Sheriff's Department has sent court and law enforcement personnel a list of 29 inmates it selected for early release to stem overcrowding at the county detention center. The inmates are nonviolent misdemeanor offenders, according to a memo County Attorney John Howard sent court and law enforcement staff on behalf of the sheriff's department Tuesday.
