A Campbell County, Ky., inmate allegedly tried to escape from a courthouse Wednesday morning, News 5 reported. Officials said 34-year-old Vaughn Williams was among several inmates being taken to a second-floor courtroom at the Campbell County Courthouse at about 9:30 a.m. Police said Williams fled the courtroom and jumped over a railing onto the first floor. Williams landed on a metal detector and ran out the front door and across the street, where he was apprehended, police said. Officials said Williams was appearing in court for a revocation hearing on a charge of failing to pay child support. He now faces an additional charge of attempted escape. Williams was taken to St. Luke East Hospital for treatment of a leg injury. |
