CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — A guard in the high security unit of Rhode Island’s state prison has been assaulted by an inmate. A spokesman for the state prisons department says the correctional officer was assaulted Sunday morning at the Adult Correctional Institution’s high security center. Department of Corrections spokesman J.R. Ventura says the officer restrained the inmate until other staff arrived to provide backup. Read More. |
