An inmate at the Niagara County Jail in Lockport faces charges, including felony assault, stemming from a reported escape attempt in which a female corrections officer suffered serious injuries, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. According to reports, corrections officers at the Niagara Street jail were checking on an inmate in the infirmary the morning of Sept. 25 when he made a sudden dash for the door.
