| ADOC searching for escaped inmate out of Montgomery |

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Corrections is asking for the public's help in locating an inmate who escaped from a Montgomery work site Tuesday afternoon. Sgt. Joseph Zeigler reported that 52-year-old Vernell Sanders escaped from his assigned job in Montgomery around 12:11 p.m. Tuesday. Sanders is listed as a 5'9" man weighing around 158 pounds. He was last seen wearing his white prison uniform. Staten is serving 45 years at the Red Eagle Work Center for promoting prison contraband in Bessemer. He was sentenced in August of 1995.
