| One dead, five injured after wreck involving prison bus in Louisiana |

JACKSON, La. (WAFB) - One person has died in a two-vehicle wreck involving a prison bus on Tuesday morning. The wreck happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 22 just south of the Dixon Correctional Institute on Highway 68 southbound in East Feliciana Parish. Public Information Officer Taylor Scrantz says for unknown reasons, a passenger vehicle crossed the center line and struck the prisoner bus head-on. The driver was properly restrained but suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. LSP says the man, who has yet to be identified, is from out of state. Ken Pastorick, Communications Director for the Louisiana Department of Corrections, says 24 trustee inmates were riding on the bus along with six corrections officers, including the bus driver.
