California Department of Correction's Operation 'Boo' keeping tabs on known sex offenders |

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — This year marks the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's 26th annual 'Operation Boo' initiative. On Halloween night, state parole agents teamed up with Kern County probation and Homeland Security to perform compliance checks on known sex offenders. The statewide initiative was launched in 1994. According to the CDCR, as of September 30, 2019 there were a total of 10,403 sex registrants who are active parolees under the department's supervision.
