UPDATE (WKOW) — Security and safety concerns prompted the lockdown of Columbia Correctional Institution (CCI). A spokesperson for the Department of Corrections confirmed to 27 News the measure was necessary because of a “concern for the safety and security of staff and those in [their] care.” The spokesperson said this is in response to a staff member assaulted on Friday, November 8. There is no indication of how long the lockdown will last. The spokesperson said until “it is safe to lift restrictions.” Read More. |
