| Inmate serving death sentence dies at Oklahoma State Penitentiary |

A 52-year-old inmate who was serving a death sentence at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary was declared dead Monday after he was found unresponsive in his cell. Around 4:30 p.m., a correctional officer found inmate Albert Johnson lying on his bunk bed unresponsive in his single cell at A-Unit of the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester. According to Oklahoma Department of Correction officials, Johnson was pronounced dead shortly after he was found. Johnson was serving a death sentence on a first-degree murder conviction out of Oklahoma County. He also was serving life sentences for shooting with intent to kill, forcible sodomy, first-degree rape, kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Read More. |
