Eleven staff at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora sent to hospital |

Eleven staff members from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora were sent to the hospital on Friday. They were exposed to a toxic substance believed to be fentanyl, a highly dangerous opioid. The exposure happened in the prison’s mailroom Friday morning. Staff were inspecting mail addressed to prisoners at Clinton Correctional Facility. That’s when they found an envelope with a substance the staff was not able to identify. State Police responded around 9 a.m. Friday. According to police, several mailroom staff felt physical symptoms from the exposure. In all, eleven prison employees were treated at the hospital in Plattsburgh and released the same day.
