|Two correctional centers on lockdown due to flu outbreak|

EAST ST. LOUIS — The Southwest Illinois Correctional Center in East St. Louis is currently on lockdown due to a flu outbreak.
According to their website, the center has been on lockdown and no visitors are allowed. The lockdown started this morning and is still in effect. There are approximately 60 inmates sick, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The department released a statement regarding the lockdown, “In an effort to contain the virus, visits, phone calls and commissary operations are temporarily suspended. Staffing levels have not been impacted. We are committed to ensuring the health of the men and women in our custody and daily medical services are being provided at Southwestern.”
