State corrections officials said there has been more violence inside the Maryland House of Correction in Jessup. Two inmates were stabbed during a fight and are in critical condition at Shock Trauma. Authorities said the fight broke out about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in a prison dormitory housing 60 inmates. Two inmates armed with homemade knives confronted another man. Several others came to his aid and assaulted the armed men. The inmate targeted in the attack and one of the assailants are hospitalized. Both men are convicted murderers serving life sentences. The second assailant was treated for minor injuries in the prison infirmary. The dormitory was placed on lockdown status, meaning inmates have been confined to their cells. |
