|Red Onion inmate gets six years for death threats against federal judges|
ABINGDON — A Red Onion State Prison inmate had six years added to his life sentence for murder after threatening to kill two federal judges in 2018.
Mitchell Norbert Nicholas, 41, was sentenced Feb. 12 after being convicted on Aug. 22, 2019 on two counts each of mailing a threat to injure another person and threatening to murder a federal judge.
According to Western District U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesperson Brian McGinn, Nicholas was a Red Onion inmate serving a life sentence for a 2007 first-degree murder conviction in the Virgin Islands when he sent letters to Virgin Islands U.S. District Magistrate Ruth Miller and District Court Judge Curtis Gomez.
