| Three former SC COs arrested |

Three former S.C. Department of Corrections officers were arrested last Tuesday and charged with assaulting an inmate at Kershaw Correctional Institution. The State Law Enforcement Division says 35-year-old Scott Dekreon of Lincolnton, Georgia, 33-year-old Tracy Lee of Edgefield, and 31-year-old John Pough of Columbia, face charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Dekreon, Lee and Pough were searching inmate David Lail's cell on September 15th 2004. SLED says Lee and Pough repeatedly hit Lail in the face and other parts of his body. Lee also hit Lail in the face with his handcuffs. SLED says Pough and Lee rammed Lail's head into several steel doors while carrying him to lockup and Dekreon kicked Lail in the buttocks. Lail suffered a black eye and other injuries. |
