Inmate escapes from work detail

A Gwinnett County inmate escaped from a work detail at a Duluth recycling plant last Tuesday, authorities said.
Latrelle Richardson, 25, was one of 32 inmates being guarded by three officers at the Recycling Bank of Gwinnett at 4300 Satellite Blvd.
He disappeared around 2 p.m., said Deputy Warden Jeff Sligar of the Gwinnett County Department of Corrections.
Richardson, of Hampton, was serving a two-year prison sentence at the Gwinnett Correctional Institute in Lawrenceville for a probation violation. The building is a low- to medium-security facility, Sligar said.
Richardson originally was sentenced on a theft-by-receiving charge, he said.
Sligar said Richardson is not considered "armed and dangerous," but anyone who sees him should call 911 or the local police department.
"He is wanting to be away from here, and there is no telling what an individual who doesn't want to return to prison is capable of," Sligar said.
Richardson has friends in DeKalb County, Sligar said.
