A correctional officer and two inmates have been indicted on charges they tried to kill an inmate at the Baltimore City Detention Center. Correctional officer Sherman Lawrence and inmates Ronald McClary and Donte Smith were indicted last Wednesday on charges including attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. They're accused of trying to kill Ronald Scott, 26, who was stabbed at the facility on May 11. Lawrence, 21, is being held at the detention center on a no-bail status. Smith, 24, is also at the detention center -- awaiting a trial in September on felony drug charges. McClary, 35, is an inmate at the Maryland Division of Correction. |
