Overton County (Tenn.) jail administrator Michael Gilpatrick has been indicted in Nashville on federal charges of conspiring with others to have an inmate beaten and then trying to cover it up. Gilpatrick was arrested last week in Livingston in an ongoing federal investigation of Overton County Sheriff's Department employees. Gilpatrick is charged with conspiring with other jail employees to arrange the beating of inmate Ricky Allen Beaty. Jailer James Loftis has already pleaded guilty to the charges. Prosecutors contend Gilpatrick directed another employee to have two inmates beat Beaty. |
