Nearly 70 Warren County, Mississippi, Jail inmates are expected to be back at the jail Tuesday after a Sunday night fire forced their evacuation, officials said. No one was seriously hurt. Three inmates were treated at a Vicksburg hospital for smoke inhalation but were treated and released within an hour, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. The fire started in an inmate's second-floor cell from newspaper, a mattress and a lighter, Mike Traxler, an investigator with the Warren County Sheriff's Department, said. A total of 66 inmates were evacuated. All evacuated inmates are expected to return to their cells Tuesday, pending clean up from the smoke and water, Warren County Sheriff Marvin Pace said. |
