State police at Reading said an inmate's attempt to break out of the Berks County (Pa.) Prison failed when he got wedged between a building and some razor wire. Police said Gary Resch, 39, climbed up a basketball pole in a recreation area and separated some razor wire atop a fence, then tied off a sheet and shimmied down into a courtyard Sunday. Police said he tried to pry a fence from its posts, but when that didn't work, he pulled down some razor wire and scaled the administration building onto a ledge. He then tried getting through yet another section of razor wire, and that's when he got wedged between the wire and the building. Prison officers apprehended him and he was taken to a hospital. |
