Three employees of a correctional facility that houses some of the state's most violent youthful offenders are recovering from injuries suffered in an attack by inmates. The staffers at the Chaderjian Youth Correctional Facility near Stockton were hospitalized after they were beaten by three inmates. An official with the state department that oversees the facility says the three were treated for a number of injuries including concussions, hurt knees, bruised heads and cut lips. Authorities say one of the inmates involved in the incident had just been returned to the facility after serving a sentence in an adult state prison for assaulting another correctional officer at the youth facility. The three youths were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on a series of charges, including an enhancement for being members of a criminal street gang. The Chaderjian Youth Correctional Facility houses 500 of the state's most violent offenders between the ages of 18 and 25. |
