Four inmates escaped Tuesday morning from the Stanislaus County (Calif.) Honor Farm near Grayson, said Sheriff's Department officials, who added that one of the escapees was eligible for release in two weeks. Officers conducted a head count at 7:30 a.m., said deputy Jason Woodman. All prisoners were accounted for. At 9:45 a.m., deputies making a routine perimeter check found a hole cut in a fence on the east side of the property, facing a cornfield. A second security fence also had been cut, Woodman said. Officers counted the prisoners again. Four were missing. Officials identified the missing as: Jesus Aguilara, 21, of Modesto, in custody on charges of possession of methamphetamine, burglary and possession of burglary tools. He was due to get out Aug. 5, but was eligible for early release in two weeks. Abel Sandoval, 33, of Delhi, in custody on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin. He was due to be released in September. Juan Telles, 36, of Modesto, in custody on charges of possession of methamphetamine, grand theft and grand theft auto. He was due to be released in September. Jose Nicolas, 26, of Modesto, booked July 10 on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine for sale. The inmates apparently used a tool to cut through the fence, but deputies did not know what kind. No tools were missing from the Honor Farm shop, Woodman said. It was possible that someone from the outside planted a tool, Woodman said. "We don't have any evidence to suggest that, but it is a possibility." Though none of the men was arrested for violent crimes, the escapees should be treated with caution, Woodman said. "They are all fugitives, they are all wanted by the law," he said. "People should not approach them." |
