A jail officer was injured last Tuesday morning when he was attacked by four inmates at the Maui Community Correctional Center in Hawaii, officials said. The altercation was reported at about 7 a.m. while adult corrections officer Nathan Walker was talking to an inmate in an entry area near Module A at the Wailuku jail. Fellow officers came to Walker's aid when he was attacked, officials said. Walker suffered minor injuries, including one to his finger. The 36-year-old, who has worked at the jail for 5 1/2 years, was treated at Maui Memorial Medical Center. The inmates involved in the altercation have been placed in prehearing segregation until an investigation is completed. Sentenced felons are housed in the module where the attack occurred. |
