The death of an inmate at a state youth prison in Circleville, Ohio, has been ruled a homicide following an autopsy, according to a State Highway Patrol report. The inmate, Robert McClanahan, 19, died at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus after he fell off stairs and struck the back of his head on the floor July 5 at the Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility. But Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Rick Zwayer said an autopsy conducted by the Franklin County coroner determined McClanahan died from a head injury suffered before the fall. Neither the patrol nor the Ohio Department of Youth Services would elaborate last Thursday. McClanahan was committed to Youth Services from Tuscawaras County in August 2003 on a gross sexual imposition conviction. The patrol is investigating the death. |
