| Inmate charged with stabbing |

A 33-year-old Waupun, Wis., prison inmate has been charged with stabbing a fellow inmate with a pair of tweezers earlier this year. Corneal Mayes, of Milwaukee, made an initial appearance in Dodge County Circuit Court last Monday on a felony battery charge. According to the criminal complaint, Mayes allegedly approached a 27-year-old man in the shower area from behind, hitting the younger man on the head. The victim told investigators that after he fell, Mayes began stabbing him in the back and stomach area with a pair of tweezers from the inside of an ink pen barrel. When questioned, Mayes told officers the he believed that the other man had been spreading false rumors about him, the report said. Mayes is expected to make his next court appearance on Aug. 11. |
