The FBI is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of two escapees from the Lexington County (S.C.) Detention Center. Ted Evan Doughty, 21, of Charlotte, N.C., and Daniel Ryan Pilson, 25, of Clover were in the Lexington jail awaiting sentencing on federal bank robbery charges when authorities say they escaped with a third inmate. Investigators think the two men planned to escape to commit another bank robbery. Other inmates told investigators the pair planned to kidnap a bank manager to get inside for the robbery. FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Patrick J. Maley said the two are considered armed and dangerous. The two men have connections in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California and Connecticut and may be driving a blue Dodge Durango, the FBI said in a news release. Doughty is white, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has light brown hair and blue eyes. Pilson is white, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. The men left the prison in blue jeans with white stripes down the side, white T-shirts and military-style boots. The third escapee, Clifton Sentel Porterfield, 25, of West Columbia, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service last Monday at a coin-laundry business that offers money-wiring services. He was taken into custody without incident. Porterfield was driving a 1993 Eagle Talon that was stolen from Lexington last Friday night, police said. A loaded .44-caliber handgun was found in the front seat of the car. |
