| Inmate Work Crew Finds Body In Ditch |

A prison inmate work crew discovered a body last Wednesday morning lying in a Salem, Ore. ditch. The workers were clearing brush and cleaning ditches in Salem's industrial area about 8:30 a.m. when one inmate spotted the body and reported it. Police say the person was likely dead for about a week. The identity was not immediately known, and investigators aren't sure if foul play was involved. However, they did describe the death as suspicious. An autopsy was planned. |
