| Deputies Find Escaped Inmate Asleep |

Last week Rankin County, Miss., authorities nabbed an escaped inmate as he was sleeping. Sheriff Ronnie Pennington said deputies arrested Joe Johnson Friday at about 1:10 a.m. The 23-year-old had been on the run since early Thursday morning when he escaped from the Rankin County Detention Center. Deputies said a tip led them to a mobile home off Heather Road in south Rankin County. They found Johnson asleep inside and arrested him without incident. Two other people from the home were also taken into custody. Pennington said a female friend of Johnson faces charges of aiding a fugitive. Another man was being questioned. Johnson is charged with armed robbery in the holdup of a rural Madison County post office. he also faces a charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He will likely have a first court |
