Two Florida inmates are back behind bars after a daring attempt at escape on Saturday. Officials named Michael Robert Gordon and Gary Mizell as the two prisoners that tried to flee from the South County Jail. According to reports, Gordon jumped off of a bus that was traveling at roughly 50 mph. While attention was diverted to Gordon, inmate Gary Mizell slipped out of his handcuffs and hitched a ride to his old apartment complex in Bartow. Gordon was reported to be in serious but stable condition on Saturday night at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Mizell was found at his old apartment roughly 30 minutes after his escape, where authorities took him back into custody. Gordon and Mizell were both arrested on escape charges. |
