After three hours of chaos, prison officials restored order after a riot last night at a California prison. Corrections officers at the California Institute for Men spent three hours trying to subdue the rioting inmates, using foam bullets, pepper spray and tear gas in attempts to sedate them. According to reports, the conflict started just before 7 p.m. last night, at when an apparent altercation between black and Latino inmates escalated. Corrections officers report that no officials were hurt, but five inmates have been sent to the hospital. Officers managed to restore control to the facility by 10 p.m. |
