Detroit Parole Office Robbed, Flooded
By WXYZ Detroit
Published: 09/26/2005

Last week employees from the Detroit parole office on Lawson arrived at work to find the building broken into and flooded.
Police believe thieves broke into the parole office late Monday night. Since the alarms weren't working, no one knew about the break-in until the first employees arrived on Tuesday.
Investigators aren't sure why the thieves stole copper tubing from the building. The removal of the copper tubing lead to serious flooding.
A spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Corrections said clean-up crews worked all day Tuesday to remove the water.
100 workers were sent home for the day yesterday and the 200 parolees who were supposed to check in on Tuesday couldn't, which made for a crowded situation Wednesday.
None of the parolees records were destroyed by the flooding and police say no arrests have been made.
