Three escaped inmates back in custody
By Associated Press
Published: 10/30/2003

Three of the eight inmates who escaped this week from a Blountville, Tennessee jail are back in custody.
Five inmates remain at large and are considered to be dangerous. The latest inmate was arrested yesterday after a short foot chase.
The men escaped by using a plumbing access in a wall and then an air duct to get to the roof of the jail. They tied their uniforms together and went over the roof.
Sheriff Wayne Anderson says that while the inmates had carefully worked out their route from the jail, they apparently didn't plan for what to do once they got outside in the 30-degree weather. They fled in their underwear.
