Two brothers being held in the Multnomah County Justice Center, in Oregon, attacked a deputy during an attempt to escape yesterday. Long and Phu Le were being held on burglary charges when the incident occurred, but officials added that they both had a long list of offenses. Officers said that the brothers planned to attack the deputy, and then break through a facility window, using a rope made out of bed sheets to climb out of the building. Deputy Tim Turney reportedly suffered strangulation marks, among other bruises and scratches, but managed to radio for help while fighting off the brothers. The brothers were subdued with pepper spray and a Taser gun. Although the brothers had initially planned to climb to freedom with their makeshift rope, many officials are puzzled at how they planned to break through reinforced windows. “Of course, their plan had severe flaws,” said County Sheriff Bernie Giusto, “starting with they weren't going to get out of here.” |
