Four Tennessee officers are being charged with the death of a female inmate at the Metro Nashville Detention Center. Officials say that the charges were filed after a female inmate was beaten to death, and additional charges were filed for aggravated assault.

Estelle Richardson, 34, died in 2004 and a medical examiner observed that she died of a skull fracture, broken ribs and a damaged liver. The four officers were employed by the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA); CCA says it  is fully cooperating with the investigation.

After a police investigation, officials said that the officers used excessive force on Richardson. While the officers admitted that there was an altercation, they denied using excessive force.
