100 Nigerian Inmates Escape
By News 24

A senior official at Auchi prison in South Africa has reported that roughly 100 Nigerian prisoners have escaped, after a protest caused by their poor living conditions.

Officials say that they do not have an exact number of inmates that are missing. However, officers say that the incident took place on Wednesday, following a prison riot in Edo State Prison, where inmates said that they were being fed poorly.

However, an Edo state police spokesperson released a statement saying that many of the prisoners have been re-arrested, citing that many family members have turned the escapees back in.
