An Oregon inmate that escaped from a Coos County prison last week was caught yesterday by authorities. According to officials, Steven Sharp, 34, was walking on the side of Highway 38 when an off-duty lieutenant from the Shutter Creek Correctional Institution spotted him. The lieutenant notified the Reedsport Police Department and Sharp was taken into custody. Sharp is now at the Coos County Jail. He had been scheduled for release in April 2006. Sharp had been serving time for burglary and theft charges. Officials say he will also likely be charged with escape. |
