Milo Tudor, a 41-year old inmate, was awarded $3,200 by a judge after filing a suit against the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Tudor sued the department after repeatedly requesting a transfer to a non-smoking wing of a South Carolina jail. According to Tudor, officials put him in the same cell with smokers even though he suffered from asthma. However, Tudor might not actually see any of the money as officials claim he owes the facility damages because he broke a window. Officials say that they will deduct the repair cost from his winnings. Tudor is serving a 35-year sentence for kidnapping, and assault and battery with intent to kill. Officials say that they will appeal the court order. |
