15-Minutes of Freedom
By News 15 Indiana
Published: 10/10/2005

Two Indiana inmates had a few minutes of freedom on Saturday night after escaping from Huntington County Jail.

Johnny Newsome, 22, and a 17-year old juvenile, escaped from the prison at around 10 p.m. on Saturday night. According to officials, the two inmates had a hand-made weapon and used force to overpower one officer. After the inmates robbed the officer of his radio, keys, handcuffs and wallet, they overpowered another officer that tried to stop them.

Then the two men escaped, but not for long – about 15 minutes later, officials caught the three blocks away from the facility. Officers add that the two inmates are back behind bars and are both facing additional charges of escape.
