An Alabama inmate broke his neck on Saturday after allegedly jumping from a second story walkway at the Madison County Detention Facility. According to officials, this is the second time that an inmate has attempted to jump to freedom in the last four weeks. Sgt. Paul Yox reported that the inmate whose name was not released - was in Huntsville Hospital where he was undergoing surgery to help stabilize his neck. Yox also stated that the inmate “decided to hurl himself from an elevated walkway after talking with other inmates in a day-room area.” While officials have the incident caught on videotape, the Madison County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the incident to further understand what has happened. The other incident occurred on September 16, when another inmate broke his neck attempting the same jump however, officials ruled that the inmate was attempting suicide, not escape. |
