Four juvenile inmates were sent to an Illinois hospital on Monday following a knife fight at Cook County Jail. The inmates brawled in the maximum-security tier of the jail. According to Bill Cunningham, a spokesman for Cook County Jail, the incident was “definitely gang-related.” After the altercation, officials recovered a number of homemade shanks' which were used during the fight. The brawl reportedly started around 11 a.m., when the inmates were on their way to lunch in the common area. Due to the ages of the inmates, officials have not released their names. All of the inmates involved were being held without bail while awaiting trial. Two of the inmates face murder charges, one faces aggravated battery charges, and the fourth is being charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. |
