Two Inmates Captured
By Eyewitness News 9 NC
Published: 10/11/2005

Two North Carolina inmates are back behind bars after escaping last Thursday. Heber Rios and Kendrick Baham escaped from the Washington County Jail after using a few moves from old time movies, according to officials.

Rios and Baham covered up the prison security camera, and then broke through the prison walls and tied sheets and blankets together to climb down the side of the jail. Officers said that once outside of the facility, both inmates removed their jumpsuits and asked for directions to a phone booth.

After the escape, officers captured Rios when he decided to show up for work release the next day. However, Baham remained on the loose until officials received a tip and found him in the bushes earlier this week. According to Washington County jail officials, the tipster will receive a $5,000 reward while both inmates will receiveĀ  more time in jail.
